These portraits show people who identify as non-conforming, gender queer, or non-binary. I find it important to show a wider range of what gender can include. Hopefully it will spark up a conversation, and help people understand that gender is a much broader spectrum than only ‘man’ or ‘woman’.

Yearning is about a gay cruising area in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. With this project I wanted to emphasize a side of the story you don’t often hear. There is a lot more to these places than just sexual interaction.

The embroidery shows a softer side, the anonymity, and a counterpart to the volatile meetings.

These pictures are not about sex; They are about a yearning to be yourself, a yearning to melt together with the landscape, a yearning to melt together with each other.
